Saltwater Halibut Fishing, Saltwater Salmon Trolling, Winter King Fishing in Homer

Captain B's Alaskan C's Adventures

Saltwater Halibut and Saltwater Salmon Fishing

Captain B’s is a totally unique charter service in Homer, Alaska- not a volume operation, but a single, owner/operated superior charter which contrasts significantly with the entire charter fleet. Captain B’s commitment to excellence has fashioned his status within the industry for fifteen years . Every trip, whether one day or multi-day, is a personalized endeavor aboard a superior vessel to maximize the objectives of his guests. Visitors choose from a variety of service options or customize their time aboard the “Ashtikan”. The “Ashtikan” herself is a one-of-a-kind vessel! She is the largest charter vessel in Homer (44 ft) whose daily groups are limited in number to six or less.

For Captain B, safety is paramount! He annually requests a US Coast Guard inspection (not required), and has been awarded a 5-Star Safety Rating- not common within the six-passenger fleet.

The “Ashtikan” is also computerized. Fishing success parallels the contributions of on-board electronics. Captain B’s electronics are unequalled anywhere within Homer’s entire charter fleet. Specialized sounders generate impulse data which input two on-board computers: one computer and monitor depicts marine features (fish, etc) within the water layers, while the second computer and monitor generates a 3-D image of the ocean floor in real -time. The data is stored and can be recalled anytime. It’s easy to appreciate that contemporary electronics plus excellent gear contribute to optimal fishing success. Consequently, most guests request fishing trips in waters where few other charters can or will go, and enjoy consistent, excellent catches. Positive memories motivate fishermen to return to Homer. Each season historically, over 90 % of Captain B bookings are “repeats” or personal referrals.

Trips may be scheduled from March through September. The larger, heavier “Ashtikan” is far less affected by the energy of wind and tide, and weather-forced cancellations are rare. All available species may be targeted (Halibut, Salmon, Rockfish, and Lingcod). However, target fish do vary within the season. Captain B will not pretend to fish for any specie without reasonable probability of success. For service variety, transporter Black Bear hunts may be arranged in May with a high percentage of success.

Captain B always utilizes a deckhand to assist and serve on-board guests. Also, his family is intimately involved in the entire service endeavor. All terminal tackle is custom and handmade by family members (Rigs, Lures, and Flies). And, someone is always available 24/7 (toll free) to assist with related preparation needs, to offer suggestions, share honest expectations and/or potential limitations.

Homer, Alaska, with its special beauty and tranquility, speaks for itself. But, to fully experience the spectrum of activity options on the water, an exceptional charter service must be secured.. Each season, Captain B’s incorporates more qualities to satisfy that challenge.
