Cross Country Skiing
Homer has some of the best Nordic ski trails in Alaska, maintained by dedicated crews. The scenic vistas are spectacular and often you have the trails to yourself. The Kachemak Nordic Ski Club maintains over 70 kilometers of groomed trails at the Baycrest, McNeil Canyon-Eveline, and Lookout Mountain trail systems. All three areas are groomed for classic as well as skate skiing and are located very close to Homer. Each area offers a variety of terrain and knock-out views of Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains.
Enjoy great snow conditions and unbelievable views of Kachemak Bay & Homer. Many ski trails wind along the mountains of Homer out East to McNeil canyon. You will find world class X-country skiing right here in Homer. It's worth the drive from anywhere.
The Besh Cup Race Series is the premier cross country skiing competition series in Alaska. Each of the six races in the series draws approximately 300 entries from all parts of the state. Results in Besh Cup races are used to select the Alaska Teams to the United States Ski and Snowboard Association, Junior Olympic National Championships, as well as the biennial Arctic Winter Games.
