Homer Alaska Fishing and Fishing Charters

homemiddlephoto160x240Dad.jpgHomer, Alaska is THE undisputed Halibut capital of the world. Also popular from Homer are “combos”, which are Halibut and salt-water Salmon trolling combinations—King Salmon are fished primarily in spring and summer, while the Silvers arrive in August. A truly unique benefit to fishing In Homer is the breathtaking scenery and incredibly diversity of birds, marine mammals, and other wildlife that you will see en-route to the fishing grounds. The relatively protected inlet waters of Kachemak Bay and its many smaller coves provide excellent reliability (Very few “blow-out” days) and a multitude of fishing opportunities for the hard core fisherman, or the entire extended family.  The lunkers often reside in deeper, less protected waters that require longer running times to access. Be sure to match-up your fishing adventure objectives with those of the boat to maximize your fun.   Large and small-boat Fishing Charters vessels, ranging in size, speed and capacity, leave from the small boat harbor daily to fish the early morning tides for Salmon or to jig the currents of Lower Cook Inlet for Ling Cod and Halibut. On board charter services can vary, so be sure to inquire about such things as filet services, and on-board appliances. Alaska State fishing licenses and king stamps are required and available at the tour desk at Land’s End Resort.
We recommend you carry a daypack with sun tan lotion, camera, binoculars, light rain gear, snacks, bottled water, gloves, hat and first aid kit.
