Boat charters offer Kodiak deer hunts and black bear hunts on the outer Gulf Coast. Vessel based black bear hunts usually include halibut fishing, are usually a week in duration and are self guided. Lodging on board the vessel, all meals and transportation to and from the beach, fishing gear and fish cleaning are included in these hunt packages. Several operators offer full service hunting trips to U.S. residents.
Another option is to fly out. Big game hunters use Homer to fly west across Cook Inlet for Caribou, Moose, and Bear. Black bear are plentiful in Kachemak Bay State Park, and the outer Gulf coast areas.
Alaskan hunters wishing to be dropped off for hunts on their own should contact a licensed transporter such as Homer Ocean Charters for transportation while hunting. State law requires hunters be transported to and from the field by licensed transporters rather than a company that only offers water taxi service.
There are other areas of the Kenai Peninsula that offer wonderful guided hunting tours, including Seward and Kenai.
