If you enjoy snow machining, then the Kenai peninsula is the placed for you. We have “High Adventure” in mountainous terrain as well as groomed trails for those who prefer cruising on flatlands.

For your convenience we have compiled a list of our popular snow machine areas. You are sure to find the one made just for you:

Caribou Hills

Access - off the Sterling Hwy on the left as you enter the highway community of "Clam Gulch"--famous for clamming in the spring and summer.

Description - This spot boasts more than 60 miles of groomed trails for your snowmobiling pleasure. It is maintained by the “Caribou Cabin Hoppers” snow machine club. This area offers the best all around snow-shredding fun on the central and southern Kenai Peninsula.

Carter Lake/Crescent Lake

Access – Located east of the Seward/Sterling Highway intersection. There will be a small parking lot with a sign that says "Carter Lake Trail."
Description – This trail goes straight up. It is usually packed all the way to the lake. The trails open up past the lake, though, allowing for hillside climbing and open spaces beyond.

Lost Lake/Primrose

Access – Head towards the east end of Kenai Lake, heading towards Seward. On the right you will find the Primrose Campground and Lost Lake trail access parking lot.
Description - This is a steep climb that takes you through dense forests to the mountains surrounding Lost Lake. The ride is very bumpy and takes an average of 30 minutes, but the amazing powder and riding here offer an extreme experience for riders. This location is recommended for expert riders.

Lost Lake/Cooper Lake

Access – Head down the sterling highway towards Coopers Landing. Turn off on Snug Harbor road, which is located just past Kenai Lake Bridge. Continue to head down Snug Harbor Rd. for roughly seven miles. This will take you to a small parking lot where you can access the trail.
Description - You can climb through V-Max canyon. To get there you will need to unload and travel several miles further up the road through a packed snow machine trail, and turn left at Rainbow Lake parking area to follow the tracks up the mountain. This will take you through V-Max and further on into Lost Lake. You should also bring extra fuel for this route, as you should whenever you are snow machining, because it's always nice to get back safely.

Mystery Creek

Access – Located at the southern foothills of the Kenai Mountain Range, and the Kenai flats.
Description - The creek continues out to Chickaloon and the southeastern edge of Turnagain Arm. This is a popular 4x4 trail in the summer and makes for an even better snow machine trail in the winter. The road was originally put in for running an underground gas line. It is 30 miles or so long, and you get to cross a couple of creeks along the way. No grooming, just a natural packed trail. You can take side trips to meadows, hills and more along the way. Great flatland riding!

Portage/Placer Valley

Access - Located south of Anchorage on the northernmost edge of the Kenai Peninsula. The access area can be found off of the Seward Highway at the end of Turnagain Arm.
Description - This location offers an incredible 360 degree view of glacier carved and snow covered mountains. Riders who come here can enjoy a mixture of flats as you cruise through frozen creek beds, and deep powder riding as you get closer to the mountains. If you like to ride in a mixture of terrain, this is the area for you!

Resurrection Trail

Access - Located in Cooper Landing, starting at the Resurrection Pass trailhead.
Description - Starting in Cooper Landing, this 26 mile trail spans from the Sterling Hwy in Cooper Landing up and over Resurrection Pass to the very small town of Hope, located on the south side of Turnagain Arm (Across the inlet from Girdwood). It is important to note that this trail is open to snow machining only on even years (2010, 2012, 2014, etc.) The odd years are reserved for back country and Nordic skiing. There are Forest Service cabins along the trail which are available on a reservation basis for a unique mountain retreat. Several lakes, a mix of terrain, ice fishing, and scenic vistas make this a great family outing.

Summit Lake

Access - Access is located off of Seward Highway, at approximately milepost 48.
Description - With two lakes at the base of Kenai Mountain Range halfway between Anchorage and Soldotna, this area offers some awesome riding in very deep powder. This area has: Open expanses (on the lakes), camping areas through the spruce, hemlock & willows at the base of the mountains and steep hillsides that rise straight up from the lake.
